April Rios

My name is April Rios and I am 24 years old. I am originally from Texas, but I have lived in New Mexico for the past 18 years. I am currently working towards earning my teaching license along with my Master's degree in elementary education through the ATRP program. I graduated from The University of New Mexico in May of 2016 with a double major in Psychology and Spanish. Working as an instructor for a before and after-school program called the Rio Grande Educational Collaborative is one of the many experiences that has rekindled my passion for teaching. Outside of working with children, some of my interests include reading, writing, and training at the gym-though I spend most of my time with my one-year-old son, Logan. Upon completion of this program, my hope is to obtain a teaching position with Albuquerque Public Schools in a bilingual kindergarten or first-grade classroom.
